Some things just never change... Amelia wished that phrase would be true. As she looked over transcript from NYU, a spiral of emotions began to overtake her. First, she was happy as she recalled the friends she made. But as her mind worked through her freshman year at college, Amelia's insides began to tying themselves into knots. It started out so well, how could she let herself fall that hard? She entered as the smart daughter of a surgeon and a women's studies professor, one of the students in her high school class with the best marks, and some how, Amelia still fell short. The courses were difficult and time-consuming. And as she wished to reinvent herself in some regards, it wasn't anymore easy for the college freshman. Wiping small tears from her face, Amelia tucked her transcript away as she continued to unpack.
It was a rather haste decision to return to California and not go back to university. Three weeks before her classes would have began, Amelia rang up the administrators, informing them that she would not be attending this fall. It was just too much for the girl. She had always called New York her home, and missed it greatly when she was out in Newport Beach, California, but since May, something felt off. Her sister was still out in California with Sophie and as were many of her friends. Jordan, Julia, Brody, even Ashton and Brooke! Sure, she had Chy by her side back in New York; they were like sisters, but after the roller coaster of a year Amelia endured, she missed the familiarity and odd simplicity that Newport harbored. While college was another chance at a fresh start, which Amelia took advantage of, she was not prepared for her lowest low.
Looking around her room in the shared condo, Amelia felt at home for the first time in months. Getting up from the floor, she went to the mirror on the back of her closet door, checking her appearance. She never was obsessed with her appearance but liked to look nice. Until the last few years, Amelia rarely touched makeup or even do much with her hair. But once she started cheering at some point in her junior year, Amelia became more aware of her appearance. She continued to dress comfortably, became flattered with the compliments she received, even allowed herself to be a little more daring. Easily, she let her guard down and allowed herself to be influenced by her peers. Hearing her bedroom door creak open, Amelia spun on her heels, spotting a familiar, bubbly personality. Sophie. As far back as she could remember, Amelia knew Sophie as her sister's best friend. And with how close the Sander girls were, Sophie was one of Amelia's best friends as well. Hell, the red-velvet-haired girl might as well be the Sanders' third daughter with how close the girls were.
"Hey Sophie!" She cheerfully greeted, glad to no longer be alone in the condo. Stretching a tad, Amelia pushed some of the boxes out of her way as she walked over to the door. Most of her stuff was unpacked, it just called for organizing. And unfortunately, most of her clothes were still in New York were sure decided on a spur to move out here again. "I was 'bout to head out to get some shopping done... Wanna join me?" Amelia invited, smiling brightly despite the heavy subject matter on her mind.

Sophie watched as the girls in front of her worked furiously to master the step the dance teacher had just demonstrated. Sophie already knew the entire dance, the teacher had decided to do a dance from thirteen, one which Sophie was actually in. She had done it for Sophie, to make the other classmates aware of Sophie’s role on Broadway but she had planned to do a dance that Sophie hadn’t been apart of, instead she’d chosen a dance that her character ‘Charlotte’ hadn’t been in, Sophie had been in it just dressed as a different character. Sophie walked over to the girls and smiled, taking the girls arm and pointing it in the right direction before extending the leg into the position which I needed to be in, “there you go, that’s perfect” she said to the girl with a smile as she stepped back to see how it looked. Sophie loved to teach people things and she was sure that if acting never took off she would become a drama teacher, but hopefully at a big prestigious arts school, she would love that. Her mind began to wander back to her days at NYAA, it had been an incredible school, somewhere that she had fit perfectly, at public school she had been the circle trying to fit into the square hole, but not at NYAA, there it was different. Of course, as they say all good things come to an end and Sophie was actually glad to have ended up back at a normal school, well if you could call Newport normal that is. Newport had been so different to her old school, she fit in well and she had her two ‘sisters’ to look after her, it was perfect.
The a few years past, Sophie left to follow her dreams and Amelia went to college leaving Alessandra to keep on studying; but before long all three were reunited again, back where Sophie felt they all belonged. She knew she didn’t have any family in Newport but it was where she felt the most at home, something she thought she’d never say. Sophie missed New York all the time, especially the lack of a good show but she coped and she loved the people that surrounded her. Of course she had her dance and her singing to keep her busy as well as her lead role in the schools new musical but sometimes the big bright lights seemed so far away. She was going back to New York in a week or so to visit her ex-roommate and new co-star, the show was on a break but she missed her friend like crazy so it seemed a reunion was in order and Sophie’s music teacher was doing one last show on Broadway so the two were set to attend that, both going in pink dresses to commemorate the show, though Sophie was really worried about her hair, she decided she’d have to tie it up, then it wouldn’t clash quite as bad. Sophie loved her hair but it did cause some fashion problems, back when she was brunette she had never had that problem, but red seemed to clash with more colours than it actually went with.
The music began and the class performed the dance one last time before it was time to leave and Sophie headed to a changing room. She pulled her dance shoes off and pushed them into her spotty bag before taking off her tracksuit and replacing it with her denim skirt and save the planet t-shirt. She pulled on her ‘grandpa shoes’ and then headed out the door smiling to the dance teacher as she left. She smiled and climbed on her bike, yes Sophie could drive but it was pretty close and she had decided to do what she could to save the environment, she had ‘two wheel Tuesday’s’. The girl arrived at the condo and she parked her bike before heading up and opening the door to see Amelia on the other side. She smiled at the girl although she could sense that Amelia wasn’t as happy as she was portraying, Sophie was an actress and she could read people’s expressions really well, that was what made her such a good actress, she knew the subtleties that people did when they were feeling a certain way that they didn’t even realise they were doing, and so she could use these little things to give her characters a deeper sense of believability. She loved acting but sometimes she hated the way she could tell how people were feeling, she knew that Amelia was trying to cover it so she felt bad that she still knew. “hey, melia” she said using the name that she had taken to calling her when she had first met her, the young Sophie seemed to think that the A was of very little importance. “of course” she said with a smile, “are we talking food shopping or just normal shopping?” she asked.
