I THINK I'M LOST IN THE LETTERS.
[/blockquote][/ul]
, but you can call me T, Oli, TO, A-go. my birthday's March 31, 1987, so if you're too lazy to do the math, that means i'm 21 years old right now. currently, i work as Starbucks barista, part-time musician. i'm also a male, in case you couldn't tell. oh! and i'm also straight, and if you can live with that, i'm sure we'll be great friends."[/blockquote][/ul]

WHEN HER REPLY MEANT EVERYTHING. [/blockquote][/ul]
"You look really familiar! Have I seen you before?"
"Hey what's up? -laugh- I'm Tiago, Brazilian and first-generation American. Yes, that means my parents are Brazilian immigrants. A few pals have said I look like Andrew de Torres, maybe they're right. My skin has a fair tan to it, which darkens whenever I'm in the sun for extended periods of time. My hair is little bit too long, but that's nothing permanent. Uhh, what else? -laugh- Oh, I have piercings. Two on the right side of my lip, the left nostril of my nose, and my ears are gauged. I usually wear jeans and a dress shirt for work, but my personal attire is in bold at some point, but also include differences in appearance, including coloring, piercings, and tattoos. Then there is the wedding band I wear for sentimental value. It belonged to my vovô, grandpa. I inherited it from him when he passed. I also have a few tattoos. On my left arm, by my shoulder, I have a robot with hearts fluttering around it then it reaches down to say love, which wraps around my bicep. Then on my right forearm, I have a rather simple cross outline with script. I guess that's it? I mean, unless you really need for my to say my eyes are brown and my hair is almost wiry and black. -laugh-"
"So, what do you like?"
"Família. Yes, that's Portuguese for family. I'm big on family. Music, I'm very fond of that. Like, touring and stuff. My friend and I have this little band, mostly acoustic, and we generally tour up and down the West coast, but we've ventured as far east as Texas. I love having close friends. My guitar, Cecília. She's named that because Cecília means blind, and I think music is blind. I enjoy being bilingual, humming varies American television show theme songs during my shifts at Starbucks. My pup, Yara. I've had her since I was nineteen, so she's not much of pup anymore. I'm big on water, it is usually all I drink. Oh, and not to sound too patriotic, but I think Brazilian women are absolutely beautiful; probably the most beautiful, in my opinion. Have you seen Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima?"
"And the things you could live without? What about them?"
"My developed allergy to peapods. Used to be my favorite snack until I started getting hives. Flip flops, at least the noise when the smack is irritating. I dislike having to repeatedly pronounce my name for people. My slight colorblindness. Misplacing my belts if I've taken them off. Overcast days, bad breath, smoke, forgetting things in general. Rude people."
"And what are the things you just can't stand?"
"I hate when people use the word delicious to describe things unrelated to food. Find it rather tasteless and disturbing. When people keep their shoes on when entering a home. The least you can do is ask the rules about footwear in the home you're entering. "
"Do you have any bad habits? What about good ones?"
"I'm terrible at picking up after myself. Also, I have the bad habit of indulging into American foods too much, though Brazilian food is much better. Good habits? I don't smoke and seldomly drink. I also run with Yara quite a bit. I'm also a candy bar junkie. My sweet tooth will be the demise of me."
"Oh, really? Well, how about the secrets?"
"Well, I dropped out of high school when I was seventeen to move to California with Eric, who is a year older than I. My parents were not pleased and I think it was the first time I heard my mother swear in Portuguese then English. So far, their unheeded warnings about trying to make a living in music have been true. Eric and I haven't gone far, but we've established a regionally recognized name since then. But yeah, no one really knows that other than Eric, Taylor, and my family back in Seattle."
"And the fears?"
"Spiders, caterpillars, losing Celília or Yara, dying young, dying before really accomplishing anything worth-while, dying alone. You know... the basics. Oh, I also have this odd fear of chickens. I think it's from Cuckoo clocks.. I know they're not the same, but yeah."
"Do you have any special talents?"
"I guess translating really wouldn't be one. -laugh- But I can translate Portuguese into English and vice versa! Well, I don't like to brag, but I guess playing my guitar is a quite a talent. I don't think I have any secret talents. I used to do one handed cartwheels until I dislocated my shoulder. Luckily, I didn't fracture my arm or something."
"And last but not least, what's your relationship status/history?"
"I've dated, I've had sex. I have an on-again, off-again relationship with Taylor Reeves, which started when I was around nineteen. It's not that great of a relationship. She's rather controlling. -laugh- But I think it's done now. Anyways, I'm currently single, but who knows for how long. My few years in high school, I didn't date, really. I was the awkward, short, kind of scrawny kid. Though, can't say I've had better luck with women here in Newport. -cough-"
call me up to confess
THAT IT'S ME YOU THINK ABOUT.[/ul]"Where were you born?"
"Seattle, Washington. My parents had lived in America for nearly two years prior to my arrival. I grew up there, had my first kiss there, fell in love with music there. Didn't have much of a tan there. -laugh- Always used to be at this indie music store since I was like twelve. I got Cecília there. Dropped out of high school to pursue the role of a traveling musician. God, what else is there to say? Well, I try to visit as often as I can. Eric and I always make a stop up there when we tour, just to visit families and friends. Don't get me wrong, I may hate overcast days, but I love Seattle. Seems a little contradictory, but I hate days when it's gray and doesn't rain."
"And what's up with your family?"
"Ah, família. -smiles- Well, let's start off with my beautiful mamãe, Júlia. She was just twenty when her and my father wed in Rio de Janeiro. She was working in her family's flower shop when my father, Felipe, came in with his sister. My father always comments on how the shy shop girl peaked over an arrangement of cattleya labiata, Brazil's national flower, to steal glances of the strapping young man chaperoning his sister. And of course, my mother would roll her eyes while a tinge of pink spread through her cheeks whenever he would tell the story. My father was a school teacher in Rio, but around mid-80's, the wedded couple left Brazil to America where the economy was stronger at the time. Come 1987, barely two years of residence in the United States, my parents had their first child, Tiago. Come 1990, their second child, my sister, Matilde. We grew up in Seattle, Washington where my father re-earned his teaching degree and works in language department."
"Now, tell me your story."
"My story? Well, that’s unwritten! Well… unfinished. - laugh- So, well, I was born in March to Brazilian parents. I did the usually things kids did. Played little league and recreational ‘soccer’, palled around with friends, and lovingly antagonize my sister. I was around ten when my papai brought home Cecília for my creative mind. Listening to him tune the beauty, I was in awe, eagerly waiting to learn the world it would open for me. For days on end, I played beyond the point where my fingers ached. But on a few occasions, my precious Cecília was taken from me because of grades or misbehaving. When high school came around, I was pretty talented though I had stopped playing for six months prior to. High school... well, that's a story all on its own. I wasn't big on it, being a social recluse, really. I had selective friends who I often met through seeing at the record store frequently or the local shows on weekends. That's how I met Eric. We just gelled. We both aspired to be musicians and it kinda took off from there. I mean, I played, he could sing better than I could. -laugh- It started out primarily as a hobby, until the idea that we could really do this kept invading our thoughts. Needless to say, my parents were not thrilled with the decision I made. While touring with Eric, we made a stop in Newport and it just felt like home. We share an apartment when not touring."
